Fossils of the Nashville and Maysville Groups

The Nashville Group is divided into three formations:  the Hermitage, Bigby-Cannon, and Catheys Formations.  The fossils each of these differ somewhat from the others.  There is only one formation of the Maysville Group exposed in Nashville, the Liepers Formation.

I have combined the fossils of the Nashville and Maysville Groups because the fossils of the Liepers Formation are so similar to those of the Catheys Formation that local fossil hunters identify many sites as "Catheys-Liepers" because they aren't sure which it is.
